Bicycle Chic

My three year old daughter’s bike is being delivered tomorrow and I can’t wait for it’s arrival. Hallie has not had much experience with bikes because she is so short we haven’t been able to find anything where she can reach the petals. I also have a love-hate relationship with the bicycles out in the stores today, I have had enough of mass marketing of Dora the Explorer and Disney Princesses. I had to find her something that I would ride, and bicycles have become the latest fashion accessory. I have seen models photographed riding them in the latest Kate Spade and Ann Taylor Loft advertisements. I have seen brides and grooms with their pictures taken on them, and the other day when I took my niece to the ASU campus hundreds of chic college girls rode their cruisers in dresses with books in their baskets.
A New York Times article describes the increasing use of a bicycle as the latest fashion accessory. Of course now that I am not living in Chicago, I want to get a bike? And with gas prices rising – why not. I have developed a love of cycling and spinning since I have moved out to Arizona and now I love riding a bike. My choice would be a vintage style with a classic basket, I would ride to the market and bring home fresh avocados every day.

My preferred style of bike would be this beautiful vintage style 1903 bike by Ridley Vintage Motorbike. “Roll back the clock to the day when these single cylinder motorbikes where your daily transportation.” I wasn’t considering an motor bike but if you have a long way to haul and you are not just “cruising”, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

I hate doing Laundry

I hate doing laundry. In fact it is probably one of my least favorite things to do, but with a toddler who changes her clothes 5 times a day, there is a lot of it I have to do.
